Early Life and Childhood
Kendrick Lamar Duckworth was born on the 17th of June 1987, in Compton, California and his mother named him after the American singer Eddie Kendricks.
His father was part of a gang in the area called “Gangsters Disciples” and his family used to live in a “section 8 housing”.
While growing up in the streets of Compton, he was able to witness his idols “Tupac” and “Dr. Dre” filming the music video for “California Love”. This became a monumental part of his life which lit up his flames to become a rapper.
