Early Life

Miles Parks McCollum or more popularly known as Lil Yachty was born on the 23rd of August 1997 in Mableton, Georgia. While growing up, he was inspired by his father’s taste in an assortment of music which made him listen to genres that broke the norms.

He went to Pebblebrook Highschool while also working at McDonald’s to support himself. While still in school, it was reported that he routinely harassed, bullied, and teased which made his highschool life quite difficult.

The rapper rose to fame in 2015 when his song on Soundcloud called “One Night” was used in a viral comedy video.

Although Lil Yachty’s career is still currently growing, he’s been involved in several controversies throughout his career. In 2015, he and another person were arrested in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida due to credit card fraud.

The rapper was released with a bail bond of $11,000 and Lil Yachty stated that the charges were later expunged with the help of bail bonds Los Angeles.

The cover in his 2017 debut album “Teenage Emotions” also gained a bit of controversy due to a gay couple on the picture were spotted to be kissing. 

His latest album “Lil Boat 3” also gained a bit of attention when the rapper decided to wear a dress in the album’s mini-movie “Oprah’s Bank Account”.

A few people accused him of being sexist for wearing the dress and other people suggested that it meant Lil Yachty was actually a homosexual. The rapper later stated that it was just supposed to be for entertainment purposes without any deeper meaning to it.
