The Witcher Season 2: Plot

Season 1 is based on the story of the lone Witcher. The Witcher or Geralt of Rivia is a mutated beast slayer who has learned the art from a very young age. But often he explores that humans are worse than most of the beasts and monsters he has been dealing with his whole life. But he soon meets a powerful sorceress and a gorgeous princess. Season one is built around their adventure on The Continent.

The Continent, where the entire series of The Witcher is set, is a mythical place full of mysterious beings. There are as many fantasy creatures as you can imagine. There are fairies and grumpkins alongside deadly creatures like vampires and werewolves. Besides this, Witcher and other characters of ‘The Witcher’ can do elementary magic. But things are more complicated than you can imagine. Magic comes with responsibilities.

Season 1 of The Witcher is distributed across different timelines, so the same would likely be followed in the upcoming season. The writers have tried to explore the backstories of different characters alongside the main character- Geralt. This puts the entire story in a different light which makes it all the more interesting.

• Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia: Henry Cavill plays the central character- a monster-hunter named Geralt of Rivia. He is what is known as a ‘Witcher’. It is soon revealed that he is one of the few remaining witchers in a place called ‘The Continent’. Henry Cavill plays a cold yet intriguing character. The Witcher is mutated and has been exposed to intense training all his life. He is a monster slayer who is available for hire. The story begins when the Witcher is hired to do a job that turns out to be much bigger than what he had bargained for. This leads to interesting turns in the story and character development.

Henry Cavill is a British actor. He is best known for his work as ‘Superman’. He has also appeared in the recent movie featuring Millie Bobby Brown- ‘Enola Holmes’ as Sherlock Holmes.

• Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg: Anya Chalotra plays the character of a quarter elf sorceress. She is a strong and independent character who keeps running into Geralt. She used to have a hunchbacked appearance and is somehow bound to Geralt via a spell.

Anya Chalotra is an English actress who is part Indian and part British. She has appeared in ‘Wanderlust’. Before starting her career on the big screen, she has been a part of many theatre plays and television short films.

• Freya Allan as Cirilla ‘Ciri’: Freya Allan plays the role of a princess. She is the crown princess of a province named Cintra. Not just that she also possesses magical powers. The story might be centered around Geralt, the Witcher. But Ciri has some major role as well. In the book of the same name, Ciri eventually becomes the adopted daughter of Geralt.

Freya Allan is a 19-year-old British actress who started her career with BBC Drama ‘The War of the Worlds’. She was supposed to play a minor character in the Netflix series- The Witcher. But soon her role was upgraded to Princess Ciri.

Netflix very subtly released the first look of The Witcher season 2 in October. It showed Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, clad in black armor. This followed the release of a stunning image of Freya Allan as Princess ‘Ciri’. It has also been revealed that Thue Rasmussen has left the show so it is likely that a replacement would follow. Another interesting thing- season 2 of The Witcher is expected to have graveyard scenes.
