‘The Good Place’: Plot
If there’s going to be a season 5 of ‘The Good Place,’ it will most likely pick up where we left off in Season 4. As fans can agree, the show is a fantasy comedy-drama filled with layers of theology and philosophy.
As the series became more complex as it progressed from season to season, the show primarily revolved around Eleanor Shellstrop. She arrives at what the show calls “the good place” after her death.
However, she later finds out that she was brought to that place because of an error. In the later seasons, she and other residents find out that they are sent to “the good place” to mentally and emotionally torture each other.
‘The Good Place’ Season 4 saw the Soul Squad making an emotional goodbye as they all moved on. The final episode titled “Whenever You’re Ready” saw the Soul Squad finally move on in different ways.
After going through the final door, Eleanor, Jason, Chidi, and Tahani managed to achieve their version of solitude. It’s pretty heart-warming to see the main characters finally achieving peace after all the hardships they went through.
With Season 4 putting a conclusion to the story, the possibility of a fifth season is slim to none. However, fans are quite optimistic about the chances that the show will be back for another installment.

Fans will agree that ‘The Good Place’ was a lovable feel-good comedy show, making it more difficult to say goodbye. With revivals and reboots now becoming a common theme in today’s media industry, fans are hoping for a new season.
If ‘The Good Place’ were to get the fifth installment, it would only make sense that the original cast and characters will also return. The plot would most certainly revolve around the door out of “the good place.”
Season 5 could look into a different angle of the door where it doesn’t entirely wipe a person’s existence. It would then allow the four main characters to reunite for another adventure together.

‘The Good Place’ Season 5: Will It be On Netflix?
‘The Good Place’ made its conclusion on NBC in January 2020. However, Season 4, along with the previous three, are still available on Netflix in the U.S. Fans can still re-watch their favorite Kristin Bell-led comedy show while waiting for any news on a potential Season 5.
Unfortunately, the bad news is that NBC has officially announced Season 4 to be the show’s final installment. The season finally, “Whenever You’re Ready,” also happens to be the series finale.
As of now, ‘The Good Place’ stands at 50 total episodes, separated into four glorious seasons. Without any confirmation on a new Season, fans are left with only the option to re-watch the entire series on Netflix.
However, some are optimistic about the show’s chances of getting a reboot. Some are even speculating that Netflix might pick it up from NBC to create new seasons.
But, again, with no official announcement from either Netflix or NBC, all of these speculations are nothing more than rumors.
‘The Good Place’ Season 5: Potential Release Date
‘The Good Place’ Season 4 premiered back on September 26, 2019, and ran until its conclusion on January 30, 2020. Airing on NBC, Season 4 comprises 14 episodes, which is one more than the previous three.
In June 2019, NBC announced that the fourth installment was the final season of ‘The Good Place.’ In a statement by Schur, the crew was planning how to continue the show the second season.
“There were a lot of concepts that we wanted to explore to go along with the pace at which we are given to present them,” Shur said. “We put a lot of thought into it before concluding — four seasons was the right lifespan of the show,”
Shur and the writers were exploring the possibility of going beyond four seasons. “We always wanted to keep moving and continue this joyful and fulfilling project,” he said.
“The fans seem to agree. But at the end of the day, we didn’t want to tread into unfamiliar waters just because the water is warm and pleasant.”
With no further announcement beyond Season 4, it looks like Season 5 won’t be happening – at least any time soon. However, fans are hopeful that the network will produce a special season for the beloved comedy series.
