Robert Lee Parton Jr. got in the spotlight as one of country music star Dolly Parton’s siblings. Robert was born into a large family, and he has 11 siblings, Dolly being the main star among them.

Robert Lee Parton Jr. Bio

Robert Lee was born to Robert and Avie Lee Parton. His parents earned little money to sustain their large family; hence, his childhood with his siblings was challenging. His father worked as a sharecropper in the mountains and tended his small tobacco farm.

He also took up construction jobs to supplement his small income. His mother cared for the family. But as much as they struggled to provide for their children, the couple made it happen. Robert grew up in a one-room cabin on the banks of the Little Pigeon River in Pittman Center, Tennessee.

Robert Lee has kept his personal life details out of the limelight, and it is unclear what he does for a living. Let’s take a look at his siblings.

Robert Lee Parton Jr. Siblings

Robert’s parents had a total of twelve children. Robert’s siblings, from the oldest to the youngest, are as follows: Willadeene, David Wilburn, Denver Dolly Rebecca, Robert Lee, Stella Mae, Cassie Nan, Randel Huston, Larry Gerald, Estel Floyd, and Freida Estella and Rachel Ann. Freida and Rachell are twins. Sadly, Larry died four days after he was born.

Robert’s siblings became famous over the years, like Dolly Parton, who shone the spotlight on the family as a country music singer. Stella is also a country music singer, as did Randell before his death in January 2021. Freida was a backup singer for Dolly and later tried punk music. Currently, she is an ordained wedding minister and owns a chapel.

Floyd was a songwriter and even penned down some songs for Dolly. He died in 2018. Cassie Nan is another singer in the family and has performed at Dollywood severally. Rachel became an actress and starred in the TV series Nine to Five, which ran from 1982nto 1988.

Robert, Coy and David are the only ones who chose life away from the spotlight.

Robert Lee Parton’s Sister Dolly

Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on 19 January 1946 and is the fourth of Robert and Avie Lee’s twelve children. Dolly started singing at church at the tender age of six. She attributes her musical abilities to her mother, who entertained her family with Smoky Mountain folklore and ancient ballads. Dolly began performing on local radio and television programs in the East Tennessee locality. She moved to Nashville after graduating from Sevier County High School in 1964 and began her songwriting career. She is the one who wrote Whitney Houston’s international hit ‘I Will Always Love You,’ among over 3,000 other songs.

She initially was pitched as a bubblegum pop artist but later started singing country music after her first country song, Put It Off Until Tomorrow, hit number six on the 1966 country chart. Jolene, Coat of Many Colors, and 9 to 5 are some of her best songs.

Wrapping Up

Richard and his family beat all odds to rise above poverty, and thanks to their sister’s success in music, the family’s roots are always recognized.
