When it comes to matters concerning our child, we mothers do and provide the best we could. From feeding, bathing, and training our babies to keeping them safe, healthy and sound, any sensible and loving parent makes sure to do what is right for their kids.

It can be quite challenging at times to foster a perfectly safe haven for the little ones though. However, we can at least try to take care of our babies as most fittingly as possible so they will grow happy and healthy.

To protect your precious babies from any harm and ensure that they get to enjoy the good life they deserve, you can follow these tips:

protect your precious babies

Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation.

It is common sense to keep your baby from anything that threatens their wellbeing and one basic way to do so is make sure your surroundings in and around your home are clean and germ-free. A smelly and dirty environment is a favorite home for pests (i.e. flies, cockroaches, rats) and bacteria. As parents, what you can do is to free your household from anything that attracts and invites pests to your home.

Now that spring has come, spring pests such as ants, rodents, spiders, mosquitoes, and other insects are in full swing. Also, bed bugs are something to watch out for. Once your babies are bitten by these nocturnal insects, there’s a tendency for infection due to the itch. Worse, your child could have allergic reactions to bed bug bites.

These pests are certainly not good, especially when you have babies around. Remember that ants and rodents, in particular, are known food contaminators and carriers of bacteria and diseases. The bites of bed bugs, ants, and mosquitos can bring danger to your child’s health; therefore, you must get rid of these nasty pests immediately or keep them out by:

  • cleaning up regularly to avoid having clutter, food debris, leftovers, or crumbs
  • storing food in the fridge or well-sealed containers
  • throwing your garbage properly inside the trash cans
  • cleaning hands regularly with clean water and soap

Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation

Stay indoors during times when insects and bugs are most active.

While it’s true that we need to take our babies out in the sun every now and then so they get their needed Vitamin D and fresh air, it is best to let your little one stay indoors particularly during dusk and dawn when most harmful insects such as mosquitos are on the go.

Besides their itchy bites, mosquitos transmit deadly diseases, which is why it is highly imperative to protect your baby from these insects. Mosquitos normally thrive and breed in shady areas and standing water. Therefore, your best move would be to eliminate all potential breeding sites for mosquitos like downspouts, gutters, buckets, and puddles.

Use net covers

Use net covers.

If you really must take your infant outdoors, then might as well use net covers around your baby carrier or stroller to protect them from insect bites. Even when your baby is sleeping inside your home, put a net cover over the crib or bed.

clothing for your baby

Use only light-colored clothing for your baby.

Dark colors and floral prints aren’t suitable to be worn by infants as these colors attract bugs and insects. To avoid the attention of insects, let your baby wear clothes and accessories with light colors only especially when your baby is staying outdoors.

Apply only natural scents

Apply only natural scents.

Never use artificial insect repellents for they contain chemical that may harm your baby’s delicate skin. As much as possible, use only natural oils on your baby’s skin to fend off mosquitos. These oils contain natural scents such as lavender, peppermint, basil, and eucalyptus, which are natural mosquito repellents.

Avoid spots where bugs mostly are.

Another way to shield your baby from harmful bugs is to avoid those zones that bugs usually love to dwell on. Bug hangouts such as bushes, garbage cans, and any piles of junk are something you and your baby must stay clear of.

Keep your baby covered with lightweight material from head to toe.

One preventive measure to block insects from getting access to your baby’s skin is to cover up the baby with lightweight clothing like long sleeves, socks, pants, hats, and/or blanket especially when you are staying outside. At night, make sure your baby has very minimal skin exposure as bed bugs typically bite on exposed skin of people during their sleep.

Provide your baby with the right nutrition.

Of course, any mother must never forget to keep their babies in the best of health by giving the infants proper nutrition. The first two years of your baby’s life is most crucial as far as growth and development is concerned. That is why, it is important to give your baby a healthy dietary pattern so they will achieve optimum health that will serve as their weapon against diseases.

These eight tips generally cover everything that has to be done by adults and parents to better take good care of their young. Applying these guidelines along with residential pest control assurance will help your children to grow healthy mentally, physically, and emotionally and enjoy what life has to offer.
