The story of the anime revolves around Hiyori Iki who is a middle school student. One day, on their way back home, their school bus meets with an accident. While trying to protect a stranger, Hiyori Iki gets involved in an accident and suffers an unnatural condition, in which her soul keeps slipping out of her body. So she can experience two universes at a time.

Noragami is an anime belonging to the genre Action, Supernatural, and Urban Fantasy. The Anime is based on a Manga of the same name. The Manga was written by Adachitoka and it was published by Kodansha. Its English version was published by Kodansha USA. The Manga was featured in a magazine named Monthly Shōnen Magazine. It was released on December 6, 2010, and it had 25 episodes (23 + 2 special). 

The Anime made on it has had two seasons released till now. The first season of the series was helmed by Kotaro Tamura and it was written by Deko Akao. The music of the anime was given by Taku Iwasaki and the studio involved in its production is Bones. It had 12 + 2 OVA episodes. The companies involved in the licensing of the anime were Madman Entertainment (in Australia), Funimation, and Manga Entertainment (in the United Kingdom). The anime originally aired on Tokyo MX, MBS, BS11, and TVA, and the show aired from January 5, 2014, to March 23, 2014.

The second season of the series was also helmed by Kotaro Tamura and it was written by Deko Akao. The music for the second season was given by Taku Iwasaki, Kayo Konishi, Yukio Kondoo (MOKA☆), and ELECTROCUTICA. The studio involved in its production was the Bones studio. It had 13 + 2 OVA episodes and it aired from October 2, 2015, to December 25, 2015, on Tokyo MX, MBS, BS Fuji, RKK, and AT-X.

Plot:

The story of the series revolves around Hiyori Iki, a normal middle school student who lives a regular life. Her life descends from the path of regularity during an incident where she is involved in a bus accident while she tries to protect a stranger. Her soul is affected by the incident and causes it to frequently slip out of her body out of her will.

 The constant slipping out of the soul brings the existence of two parallel worlds to her knowledge. The two parallel worlds include the Near Shore, the place where normal humans reside with their fellow-creatures, and the Far Shore, where demons live alongside humans. The actions of her soul introduce her to a nameless god without a shrine, Yato.

Yato has a strong wish to make a name for himself and therefore accepts any wishes for 5 yen. The one wish included Hiyori asking him to fix her body. The duo becomes a trio as they meet Yato’s Regalia- a weapon made out of a dead human’s soul and named by the god in question – Yukine. The trio walks on a path leading to many adventures where they struggle with several obstacles and their friendship, identity as living beings, and their pasts.

The character of Yato has been voiced by Jason Liebrecht and the character of Hiyori Iki has been voiced by Bryn Apprill. The character of Yukine has been voiced by Micah Solusod. The character of Nora has been voiced by Lauren Landa and the character of Tenjin has been voiced by Sean Hennigan. The character of Bishamon has been voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell and the character of Kofuku has been voiced by Alexis Tipton. The character of Daikoku has been voiced by Ian Sinclair and the character of Kazuma has been voiced by Eric Vale.

The character of Rabo has been voiced by Mike McFarland and the character of Mayu / Tomone has been voiced by Leah Clark. The character of Tsuyu has been voiced by Jamie Marchi. The character of Kuraha has been voiced by Greg Dulcie and the character of Aimi “Ami” Tabata has been voiced by Shelby Lindley.

 The character of Akira “Yama” Yamashita has been voiced by Morgan Mabry and the character of Sayuri Iki has been voiced by Jessica Cavanagh. The character of Takamasa Iki has been voiced by Cole Brown. The character of Ayu has been voiced by Apphia Yu. The voice actors have added to the quality of the anime and made the watching experience better.

Episodes:

The first season of the show had 13 episodes + 2 OAD and the second season had 12 episodes + 2 OAD. The episodes of the first season were “A Housecat, a Stray God, and a Tail”, “Snow-like”, “Bidden Calamity”, “Where Happiness Lies”, “Borderline”, “Scary Person”, “Uncertainty and Destiny”, “Over the Line”, “Name”, “Regarded with Hate”, “Abandoned God”,  “A Scrap of a Memory” and its OADs were “God’s Possession, God’s Curse” and “A Promise in Spring”.

The episodes of the second season were “Bearing a Posthumous Name”, “One of Her Memories”, “False Bond”, “Wish”, “Divine Acclamation, Imprecation”, “What Must be Done”, “How to Worship a God”, “God of Calamity”, “The Sound of a Thread Snapping”, “A Certain Desire”, “Revival”, “Your Voice Calls Out” and “The God of Fortune’s Message”. Its OADs were “The Yatogami Serial Murder Incident ~Noragami Suspense Theatre~” and “A Picture Together”.

When will Noragami Season 3 be released?

The first and the second seasons of the show were received quite warmly and were showered with praises. Fans of the show have been desperately waiting for the release of the third season. However, the makers of the show haven’t made any announcements regarding the third season but it can be expected anytime soon.
